Quite a content little boy.

We went for a drive yesterday to the boxing day sales - and wouldn't you believe it, mum and dad didn't buy me anything?! I was weighed again today and have put on 100 gm over the past week, which takes me to 5lb 10oz, and I am now under the 9% for my age. Oh, by the way, I will be born next Thursday!

My profile.

Just so everyone can see that I dont have a big honker like my dad, but I also dont have much of a chin. Not bad looking overall, even if I have to say so myself (actually everyone keeps telling me that I am the most gorgeous baby they have ever seen - aw shucks).

Xmas is so tiring.

Well what can I say, it was all abit much. Mum and Dad got me up early, kept me awake while they waved bright coloured boxes under my nose before tearing them all to bits and then made me watch them eat a big turkey - no wonder I am so exhausted. This little blanket came from my adopted grandmother, Debbie.

Merry xmas

Merry Xmas to all my family and friends around the world. I am sorry I can't be with you all, but have a wonderful xmas day and I will catch up on cuddles in the near future.
all my love
Dylan (Rudolph) Whincop

Mum and Dad would also like to wish family and friends a very happy xmas - we will be spending xmas with Dylan's adopted/interim grandmother (Debbie) who will no doubt spoil him completely. Looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

What santa left.

Mum and Dad have told me that they got their xmas wish already, just look and see what santa left them in the xmas stocking...

Thank you God.

I just thought I had better say a quick prayer to Thank God for getting me through yet another crisis. As if being born premature, with strep B and by emergency caesarian wasn't enough, since then I have had pneumonia, a hole in my heart, reflux and now hypothermia. Hopefully my first xmas will be uneventful.

Not happy

I really dont like me car seat at all. This is my unhappy face. Dad told me he went and bought me some more clothes and a thermometre for the bedroom so I dont have to be afraid of freezing to death again (notice I keep my hat on nowdays).

Heading back home 22/12

So, after two days in hospital the doctors are none the wiser why I am so sleepy and dont always want to eat. My low temperature was actually hypothermia ,which the docs seem to think was caused by the drive into hospital. It took me 2 days to re-stabilise my temperature, but thankfully mum stayed with me. As you can see I am not that keen to get home - but really I just dont like my car seat. It is just soooo big and uncomfortable and it reminds me of the cold.

Back in hospital - 20 Dec

Well, as you can tell from this photo, sometimes I dont want to eat. I am often too tired to open my mouth, which means I dont get my calories inside my belly, which means I get more tired, which means I dont eat, which means my temperature eventually drops to 32C and I have to go back into hospital to spend some time warming up and getting fed by a tube. The doctors still aren't sure why my temp went so low, but it is back up now. I have to spend tonight inside for observation and will know tomorrow if my infection is back or what else is the matter. Mum has been telling the GP, the health visitor and the nurses about my not waking enough, but they all seem to think I was doing fine. Well, I am glad mum insisted I go into hospital for a checkup otherwise I might be trying to hibernate through this cold weather (it is -4c tonight brrrrrrrrrrrr - I am glad I am under a nice heater trying to warm me up). By the way, I was weighed today and I now weigh 5lb 7oz, which is still only in the 9 % for a 38 week baby (I didn't end up matching my Dad's 11lb then!).

Ooooooooooooh!

Still waiting for the hairline to advance!!!1

Men about town

Here is Dad and I going for a walk - well he does the walking, I just lie here in my nice new cosy pram. Notice the little elks running around inside the hood, that is because the pram is swedish (nothing but hte best for me). So many thanks to Ma and Pa for the pram, it is already getting some good use in this brisk weather we are having.

Always so tired

This is mum's effort at trying to wake me up ready to eat. Off come the trousers as she lets the cool air circulate around me wee body.

Exhausted

This is mum and I just catching up on some z's on the couch. My favourite time is sleeping next to my mum or dad, I am just so relaxed.

Growing

I kow it looks like I am standing (or crouching) in this photo, but that is dad's legs I am lying on. Great shot of my new tracky daks though.

Tall lad - 12 Dec

I was also measured in length today. The nurse asked me to lie down and stretch out as much as I could and wouldn't you know it, I am a cool 45.5 cms long - gonna take after my dad for sure in the height department (and eating and sleeping as well I guess, but I hope not the looks - oh dear!)

Tipping the scales - 12 Dec

I was weighed today. Since coming home I hadn't gained much weight (just 30 gms in 1 week), but today I have made some progress (80 gms in 4 days) - so it looks like I am back on track. That said, I am still within the lower 25% for my age. I think part of the problem has been my parents having absolutely no clue about how to look after me. They just don't understand that I enjoy sleeping so much that I will forget to eat sometimes. My reflux hasn't helped much either, but now I am gaviscon again and able to keep some of my milk down. By the way, I wieghed 4lb 15 oz today - almost 5 lbs.

Sense of forboding!

Now that I am home I have realised that I am stuck with my parents - uh oh.

Sat 9th dec

This is me all wrapped up nice and warm for my first walk around central durham. I had a good sleep in my new pram (thanks Ma and Pa), which kept me all cosy warm, while mum and dad looked around for clothes small enough to fit me. I now have 3 outfits to wear and a few new pjs. Not much esle to report except that alot of people kept saying I was a new born baby when I am nearly 8 weeks old - fancy that. I made sure mum explained to them that I came early. But one thing everyone agreed on - and that I am adorable.

Gorgeous

Just another cute photo of me.

What time is it?

As I said, I sleep during the day, and as you can tell from Dad's hair, he doesnt sleep at night. But despite the poor synchronisation things are going well. I was weighed last thursday and haven't put on much weight, but considering I was throwing everything up for the first few days it is good I put anything on at all.

Hello Australia

I am enjoying spending all my time with mum and dad. I sleep alot during the day, but make up for it at night by staying awake through most of it. Mum and Dad have also got me back on Gaviscon as I had trouble keeping my milk down - so there are less white stains on all the furniture.

Thanks Ma and Pa

Just a quick note to say thanks to Ma and Pa for such an enormous package all the way from Oz. As you can see it is twice my size (but that doesn't really say much though). The shawl is nice and warm for those middle of the night feeds for me and mum (Dad is usually still snoring away in the background).

Any comments?

Just thought everyone might like to compare me with my Dad when he was a wee fella, though he was never as wee as myself. There is definitely a resemblance, don't you think? (Many thanks to Ma for the photo)

My new bed.

So this is my new cot; mum and dad keep saying it isn't that big, but I do look rather small in it. My first night at home was a bit unsettled, as I was a bit colder at home than in the hospital and mum and dad were obviously quite nervous about having me home. I think I slept more than they did. It sure is nice to be home - and I can't wait for my next big trip.

Over the threshhold - 1 Dec

Here is mum taking me inside the house. She sat with me in the back seat of the car which was nice because the drive did feel a bit strange. Once home mum and dad whisked me straight upstairs and into bed. Mum and Dad said all they wanted for Xmas was to have me home, but now that they have got that wish they might need to write out a new xmas list (I could help them?!?).

Heading home - 1 Dec

Here I am in my new car seat - I wonder if it comes in a smaller size as this one is way too big for little me. Let's hope Dad drives careful on the way home. But once again, I dont remember this photo being taken.

Me and my mittens.

All the excitiment started to get to me and I fell asleep (the mittens kept falling off my hands too).
If m,y trousers weren't properly attached, they would fall off too. But it looks like we are nearly ready. Mum and Dad have been driving around county Durham in a mad panic the last few days to make sure I have a cot, car seat and pram (many thanks to Mark and Lee for helping my mum and dad out).

Mum mocking me!?!

Well, the indignity. Mum had the nerve to laugh at how small I look in my new clothes from my adopted Auntie Jo (thanks Jo). Mum has been staying with me in the hospital the last two nights to ensure we understand each other and are ready for life together.

Going home - 1 Dec

Well, can you believe it? I am off home today. This is me all dressed ready for my first trip in the car. Notice my feed tube is missing - I have been feeding off mum alone for the past 2 days, and that is why they say I am ready to head home. They weighed me and I am now 4lb 13 oz and ready for the big wide world (well Sherburn initially).

Wired for sound - 29th Nov

So today I had my hearing test, and wouldn't you guess - .... I passed. Well it wasn't difficult really, all I had to do was go to sleep while they played clicking sounds into my ears (my request was for Bob Dylan but they musn't have had any of his tracks on the laptop - next time I will bring in my ipod).

Exhausted.

Dad realised today that even though we have bath time together he doesn't get a cuddle very often, so I thought we should rectify things.

After the bath (27th Nov)

So each day, after Dad gives me my bath, Mum feeds me. I am not sure which I enjoy more, probably the food..., but then mum goes and spoils it after each feed by whacking me on the back - I usually register my protest with a big burp and a little puke all over mum (well, once anyway).

And I like it in the bath too! (27th Nov)

Mum and Dad can barely believe that I enjoy having my bath. Not only do I get to spend some time with Dad, but the warm water feels all nice and .... well, wet! Dad thinks I look a bit like a frog ready to jump out of the pond - I certainly like being on my belly in the bath more than on my bum, which keeps sliding back and forth.

Still enjoying bath time - 27th Nov

Just a couple of photos to show that I enjoy the nice fluffy towel at bath time.
